About the Menopause and Menopause Yoga
Every single woman will have a different experience of The Menopause. The menopause being the transition from Peri-menopause, menopause into post menopause, 12 months after the cessation of periods.
Most women will move into Peri -menopause from the age of 45 to 50years ( this is an average but by no means always the case) and this stage alone may last up to 10 years.
Some women may enter a clinical menopause due to illness or medication at any age stepping almost overnight into menopause. In some cases young girls and women under 40 years old may enter The menopause due to ovarian insufficiency syndrome.
Every single women needing individual support at very different stages of life, age not denoting a stage.
A holistic approach to supporting mind and body during all stages of the menopause is an essential and effective way to understanding what's happening to the body during this, what can be a very turbulent time. New and unexpected feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, brain fog on top of hot flushes and painful joints and the lesser known itchy skin, tinnitus and urinary tract infections oh and of course the irritability and menoRAGE!!!!!!!!!
Past experiences of depression and anxiety may become present again.
lifestyle, nutrition, complimentary therapies, supplements, HRT, exercise and of course this is where yoga fits in.
Yoga and more specifically menopause yoga classes have been proven *British menopause society* to help support and ease many symptoms experienced during the menopause.
Menopause yoga classes are more than a yoga class which are already fabulous.. they offer the support of a group of other women like yourself within a safe and non-judgmental space.
Each 90 minute session has a different focus
Begins with a women's circle and discussion where women can share their experiences.
I share information and knowledge and offer sign posting if I can't help.
Yoga sequences will be shared which include elements of different styles of yoga including hatha, yin, vinyasa and restorative yoga, breath work techniques and meditations. These have been designed to support both the physical, mental and emotional symptoms caused by the menopause.
Most importantly menopause yoga is empowering and helps to reframe the transition through the menopause from the western lens of a negative time of life into the eastern viewpoint of entering a new and exciting stage. Into our second spring, time of renewal and reawakening. feeling positive and invigorated.
These classes are all designed to suit all levels of yoga experience, including no experience.
Yoga
Everyone can practice yoga and everyone will benefit from a yoga practice if you give it the time.
Yoga isn't about creating lots of pretzel shapes, it can be of course, but that is not the aim.
Yoga is about meeting yourself where you are each time you roll out your yoga mat. It's about listening to what your body needs and asking yourself how you are.. how often do you do that?
Its connecting breath and movement and its about being comfortable in stillness.
The strength, flexibility, balance, improved health, improved sleep, improved mood, calmer mind, reduced anxiety are all a product of this intelligent and thousands of years old practice, science and philosophy.
